How to Bleep Profanity in VEGAS Pro
VEGAS Pro: Audio Power, No Auto-Censor
VEGAS Pro (formerly Sony Vegas) has a powerful audio module but no automatic profanity detection or censoring features.
Manual Method
1. Separate Audio and Video
Right-click the clip → Group → Remove From. The audio track can now be edited independently.
2. Find Profanity
Play through using scrubbing for precise positioning. Press M to add markers at profane moments.
3. Split Audio
Press S to split at the playhead position. Make two splits — before and after the swear word.
4. Generate Beep
Insert → Generated Media → VEGAS Tone Generator. Set to 1000 Hz, sine wave. Place on a separate track.
5. Mute the Segment
Drag the Volume Envelope of the cut segment to zero.
6. Repeat
Standard cycle: find → split → mute → overlay beep. Each word takes 1–3 minutes.
Limitations
- Manual search only: No speech recognition
- Individual beep generation: Each tone clip created separately
- No vocal isolation: Can't separate voice from music
- Time: 20–60 minutes for a 5-minute video
Automatic Method
- Upload to videocensor.ru
- AI finds all profanity in seconds
- Download the processed file
- Import into VEGAS for further editing
